PsychByte: Psychological First Aid

Psychological First Aid

Recently, the media has covered a number of violent events that have occurred across the country. Children and adults alike may experience symptoms of acute stress following a tragedy with little understanding about how to best manage their experience.
The National Center for PTSD, in conjunction with the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, has created a manual for Psychological First Aid, an evidence-based method of helping survivors of disasters. The manual includes an appendix section with useful handouts for parents of distressed children as well as distressed adults. Click here to view the manual including handouts.
