National Organization Recognizes Local
Psychologists’ Efforts to Promote Young Professionals

Indianapolis, IN, March 22, 2017 — The Indiana Psychological Association (IPA), the largest organization in the state representing the interests of psychologists and consumers in the area of mental health and wellness, was recently recognized at the American Psychological Association (APA) practice leadership conference in Washington, DC.

The state-wide organization was honored to receive the 2017 Committee on Early Career Psychologists (ECP) Initiative Award for implementing “exemplary activities that engage and sustain psychologists early in their careers.”  Most notably, the group was recognized for supporting young professionals in pursuing advocacy and leadership roles and in the practice of psychology. The association also received a small grant to support ongoing ECP efforts.

Indiana psychologists encourage young professionals to become involved in the community in a number of ways.  Dr. Sarah Landsberger, IPA President, says, “IPA is dedicated to promoting the involvement of Early Career Psychologists in all aspects of the organization. Our ECP subcommittee has worked hard to provide mentorship, engagement, and support to Early Career Psychologists via fun networking and continuing education events.”

"We are committed to the practice needs of Early Career Psychologists, which make up approximately twenty-five percent of IPA’s practicing psychologist members," says Tabitha Arnett, CAE, Executive Director of the Indiana Psychological Association.
