IPA News Updates: Call for Nomindations: APA Committee on Early Career Psychologists

Help Lead APA Into the Future!   Serve on the APA Committee on Early Career Psychologists

The 7-member APA Committee on Early Career Psychologists (CECP) seeks to promote the expertise of ECPs and build leaders with the passion and innovation to bring psychology to new places. The CECP is an advisory committee to APA’s Board of Directors. People within their first ten years of their doctorate make up more than 20% of APA full members and the voice of ECPs is critical to the vitality of APA and the discipline of psychology. CECP is currently seeking nominations for the following three representatives to serve a three-year term starting January 2018:
  • Divisions Representative
  • Governance and Membership Representative
  • Science Representative
You can read more about these positions on the APA website.

Eligibility
Candidates must be APA members within ten years’ receipt of their doctorate degree at the start of their January 1 term. In addition, candidates must be able to attend mandatory committee meetings: one in the spring; and at least one in the fall, which may or may not be a virtual meeting. There may be additional meeting assignments for liaisons from CECP to other stakeholder groups.  Meeting expenses (travel, lodging, incidentals) are reimbursed by APA. Although not reimbursed, committee members are also highly encouraged to attend and participate in CECP programming at the APA Annual Convention. The committee works extensively through email and telephone. Applicants should expect to spend a minimum of five hours per week engaged in committee activities. CECP makes intentional efforts to represent the range of psychologists in our field and discipline. Individuals from underrepresented areas of psychology and cultural, familial and personal backgrounds, and those who possess unique competencies are strongly encouraged to apply.
